Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos, from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center of Greece, has found that nicotine has little effect on cardiovascular disease and that while nicotine is addictive, non-combustible products that use nicotine are preferable to the cigarette as a way of delivering nicotine. His research found that claims that e-cigarettes reduce the harmful effects of smoking by as much as 95% were broadly accurate. Farsalinos is concerned that consumers, the media and those working in the field of public health are not being provided with good information to make well-informed healthier choices.
